Football Friday (and Saturday, and Sunday)

Well, fall is in the air with crisp, cool mornings and the leaves are somewhat changing colors, but that may be from lack of rain, haha! Travis and I decided that we would take the 4-hour trip back to ol' Southeast Texas to visit our folks and have some football fun this weekend. So, I'm leaving work early today, heading to the Co-op to get my rebate card and purchase the UT jersey for Snuggles that I've been waiting to purchase :), and head home to get the puppies ready and the car loaded for our trip. Travis gets off of work at 3:00, so we're leaving then and heading down an alternate route to Lumberton, because the traffic in Houston is horrendous at 5:00 on Fridays!

We are staying with Travis' parents this weekend and I am excited about seeing my cousins in the L-Town band tonight at the football game. I love high school football underneath the Friday Night Lights. Something about that pure, hometown spirit is contagious and it brings back old memories of my high school days, cheering the on the football boys from the sidelines. The halftime band show with the Raiderettes and the Mighty Raider Band are always in high demand too! Travis and I are hoping to get some smoked boudain at the concession stand, which I know they don't sell at Austin football games, haha! Go Big L, Go Big Blue, Let's Go Lumberton Raiders! Or as we always cheered, L, L-U-M, L-U-M-B-E-R-T-O-N, LUMBERTON!

Tomorrow will bring about some great football as well, but I'll be especially tuned in at 11:00, when my beloved Texas Longhorns take on the ugly sooners from ou. (I can't even bring myself to capitalize that name, yuck!) It will be bittersweet this year, since it's the first time in 4 years that I won't be attending the actual game at the Cotton Bowl, but I will be able to watch it with family and friends and hopefully a great tailgate party! The game has a lotta hype this year, with Texas ranked #5 and ou ranked #1, it will be a barn-burner, but hopefully the BETTER TEAM (TEXAS) will come out on top! Hook Em Horns!!! BEAT OU!! Someone always said that you can't spell "kissing cousins" without ou, and the reason we say "y'all" is because it leaves out two unsightly letters, haha!!

As if football on Friday and Saturday is not enough, there's always the Cowboys on Sundays, so the greatness of football season continues and I can't deny it- I love this time of year!! :)

Here's to a weekend full of Raider victories, Longhorn Domination, and a Cowboys win!

HOOK EM!!!
