Well, one more week left of the first trimester, yay! Saturday begins trimester #2 and my appetite and energy should be returning soon, and the nausea should be waning soon (hopefully). I've actually been feeling much better lately. Still tired, but I haven't had to take my nausea meds at all in the last week, which is really nice! I think I spoke too soon, though, because this morning (late morning) I feel really nauseous. I have had a tiny bit of dizziness and I really don't want to eat (even though I'm hungry). Travis is coming to pick me up and take me home for the day. Hopefully, a good nap and more choices for food at home will help.I was beginning to get confident that I had crossed the morning sickness hurdle, since I was feeling better, and I even got a burst of energy last night at around 9:00! I showered, cleaned the kitchen, did some laundry and checked some things off of my list that I've been meaning to do lately.
In other news, we have ordered baby furniture! My parents wanted to buy the crib and mattress, and Travis' parents offered to buy the deresser/changing table. We ordered them online and I just got a call that they are in, so we have to go and pick them up from the store! Woohoo! I think we will try to arrange to borrow a truck (hint, Jenni or Kristin) and pick them up tomorrow, since we will not be able to do so today. Originally, we were just going to leave the furniture in the boxes until after we found out if the little gummy bear is a boy or girl and could paint the room, but I think Travis will be too excited to let them sit in boxes for a month! He loves to put stuff like that together, and I am so grateful that he enjoys it because I loathe it! I'll post pics of the furniture if/when we get it assembled soon.
In baby development news, it seems the "fruit of the week" is a lime, and here's what else is going on at 12 weeks:
The most dramatic development this week: reflexes. Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response, although you won't be able to feel it. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder.
Meanwhile, nerve cells are multiplying rapidly, and in your baby's brain, synapses are forming furiously. His face looks unquestionably human: His eyes have moved from the sides to the front of his head, and his ears are right where they should be. From crown to rump, your baby-to-be is just over 2 inches long, about the size of a lime, and weighs half an ounce.

Great update, Meagles! I still can't believe you're going to be a mommy, but I'm so excited for you. Love the "lime" pun... I know you're ready for that second trimester! Can't wait to see the furniture pics. Most of all, I can't wait to find out if your little lime will be pink or blue! Hope you have a good rest this afternoon.
You guys are so on the ball! Have fun setting up that furniture! Isn't it crazy to think there is a baby the size of a lime in there that you can't feel yet?... but soon enough you'll feel the little gummy!!
I can't wait to see the new furniture! How exciting!
