Merry Christmas from the Hogg Family

Here's our annual Christmas letter and the picture. Enjoy!!

Hello Friends and Family,

Wow! What a wonderful year it has been for our family! The highlight of our year was the wonderful arrival of our first child, Hudson Lane Hogg. Hudson was born on April 8, 2010 at 2:52 pm. He weighed 7 pounds and 9 ounces and measured 19.5 inches long.

Hudson is now eight months old and is a blue-eyed, strawberry-blonde bundle of joy! He is always smiling and has been such a joy in our family. We are enjoying each milestone he experiences, including crawling and talking most recently! Hudson loves to “talk” and he loves his “Da-Da” so much! There is no denying that Hudson is Travis’ son, as he is a carbon copy of Travis with his mommy’s eyes. Hudson loves playing with his toys and enjoys bath time. He has developed a special relationship with Snuggles and Timber—he laughs at them and loves to touch their fur, and they especially love to help clean him up after he eats!

Speaking of the dogs, they are adjusting to a new family member and LOVE checking the mail or going on walks. Both dogs still excitedly greet us when we come home every day.

As a new daddy, Travis has also accepted another new role this year. He is now the Associate Youth Director at our church and is in charge of events and the middle school ministry. Travis and I love serving the middle school youth and embracing these energetic, funny and joyful kids with God’s love. This ministry is very rewarding and we are blessed by the opportunity to serve daily.

Speaking of middle school kids, I am surrounded by them daily at my new job! God really blessed me with a wonderful job as a sixth and seventh grade science teacher at a local middle school about 10 minutes from our home. The administration and teachers at my school are very supportive and I am learning new things daily as I teach science to these talkative and vibrant teens. The adjustment has been challenging at times, but very rewarding as I am directly impacting each child daily. I especially enjoy the new schedule I have, as I was off for a week during Thanksgiving and two weeks for Christmas! I cannot wait to spend a whole summer with Hudson and serving at camps with Travis! It was hard to leave the UIL, where I have experienced so many good times with great people, but I am so blessed by this opportunity that God has given to me, especially after looking for a teaching job for two years. On a side note, I completed the San Antonio Half-Marathon in November, and although it was one of the hardest things to complete, I am glad I finished!

Our families are doing well. My parents have made the move to Austin, specifically down the street! They are still trying to sell their home in Silsbee, so please pray about that. Until then, my dad is enjoying the semi-retired life as a part-time PE coach at our church’s Christian school and mom is enjoying her part-time job here in Austin. They both get to watch Hudson two days a week each, so that is a big blessing for us and Hudson as well! Travis’ family remains in Lumberton but travels to Austin to visit regularly because they do not want to be away from Hudson for very long. As the first grandchild on both sides, he is one spoiled and loved little boy!!

We are very thankful for our friends and family who have supported us through this exciting time in our lives. Most importantly, we are so grateful to God for blessing us with a healthy family, provision and strength! We cannot wait to see what God has in store for us in 2011!

Blessings,

Meagan Hogg, along with Travis, Hudson, Snuggles and Timber
