Hey everyone! I just talked to Travis and I have the scoop on what's going on in Vegas! First of all, please note that Vegas is 2 hours behind us here in Texas, so you will have to adjust the times in your head. Okay... so, Travis got off the plan at 11:15 our time, and he headed down to baggage claim. Well, there was a lady with a sign that read, "The Quest," and a guy with a camera at baggage claim, so Travis introduced himself and they wanted to film Travis getting his bags from the baggage claim. However, Travis packed light and carried his bag on with him, so he had to to play like he was picking his bags up from baggage claim so the camera could get that shot... If you know Travis, you know that he is not one for the limelight, he is more a "behind the scenes" kind of guy.... Well, he feels very weird with the camera following him around, but I think he thought it was kinda cool too. The camera followed him out of the airport, where a limo was waiting to pick him up!! They filmed him meeting the limo driver and getting into the limo. The driver took him down the Strip, so he could see Vegas at night and Travis said that it was pretty cool, lots of lights. Anyways, in the car, Jill, the lady who will be Travis' staff liaison on The Quest, asked him lots of questions while they were filming. She told him to act more excited but, Travis internalizes his emotions and he was pretty tired!! He acted more excited though, and answered her questions on how he was feeling and what he expected, etc.
The limo pulled up to Planet Hollywood, where he will be staying, and Travis was escorted to the VIP entrance, a side entrance where the movie stars and rock stars enter. The camera was still on him as he checked in at another check-in station by himself, and then followed him to his room. He said the room is pretty amazing, and that it is one of the ladies' rooms from the team on A League of Their Own movie. There are jerseys and other memorabilia on the walls, and Trav said it was pretty cool. When he got to his room, there was a Doritos The Quest backpack, shirt and cap ready for him, along with a little tool. The tool was a compass, magnifying glass, opener and something else, all-in-one. He figured out how to use it, because he figured that he would need it during the game. Jill told him that she'd be back in an hour with more stuff.
Jill came back at about 11:30, which was 1:30 for us, so Travis was tired. She had a box of clothing for him and asked him to pick out a hat to wear. He had to choose between a Sherlock Holmes hat, a cowboy hat, and an Indiana Jones-type hat. Travis chose the Indiana Jones hat because the cowboy hat looked a little girly. :) He also got a button-up shirt, a pair of cargo shorts, a pair of pants, and a pair of Justin Hiking Boots. They were all fitted for him, since they got his sizes last week. He tried on the clothes to see if they fit, and then Jill left. She just told him to get some sleep and to be ready at 8:15 the next morning (10:15 our time). Travis was tired, but he woke up at 4AM b/c he couldn't sleep. He sounded excited on the phone this morning, and he said that he was going to order breakfast when he got off of the phone with me. Jill did not say that he couldn't talk about certain things yet, but she did mention that Travis could not talk to the other contestants until the contest started.
This is all I know right now, but I am super excited/nervous and I think Travis feels the same way! I'll post more updated information when I know more! Keep praying! :)
