Early Anniversary Surprise

Since Travis is leaving tomorrow for a 14-day mission trip to Wales (which will cover both his birthday and our first anniversary), he is taking me out for dinner tonight to celebrate both occasions! We are going to Fogo de Chao, a new Brazilian steakhouse here in Austin that has received rave reviews! I am so excited! It is a bit pricey, but it is our first anniversary and I already received my present (Snuggles). I am excited! I can't believe that it's been a year! It's been the best year of my life, and I wouldn't change it for a thing. I was preparing myself for some hard times, because everyone always told me that the first year is the hardest, but if this first year was our hardest, then I can't wait to spend another 100 years with Travis. Don't get me wrong, there have been trials this year, but they were all outside events, nothing within our sacred marriage, and I couldn't imagine going through those events without Travis. We have definitely strengthened our bond of best-friendship, and I feel so blessed.

On another, less lovey-dovey note... I was planning on surprising Travis for his birthday by taking him skydiving when he returned from Wales... Well, some random coincidences occurred and I accidentally let the cat out of the bag because I thought that Travis found out from someone else! Needless to say, I was so upset with myself about revealing the surprise, and Travis was shocked that I actually let a surprise slip! Well, he agreed that although skydiving would be amazing, there are some tangible gifts that he would rather have right now. I guess we will just save the skydiving for another time... :) (bonus: skydiving is expensive, so I think I saved us some money there!) Now, I am in a pickle, because I have no idea what to get him, and I want to do something special for him while he's in Wales on his actual birthday that's not too costly.... hmmmm.....

I take Travis to the airport tomorrow at 2:30, and his flight leaves before 4:00. Snuggles and I will definitely miss him while he's gone, and it makes me sad to know that I won't see my best friend for two weeks! Okay, sorry about the mushy stuff again.... Consolation is that Dani is coming to stay with me while Travis is gone, and I can't wait for girl talk and bonding! We were never able to be actual roommates before I got married, so this will be fun! To start off the girl time, we are heading to Huntington/Lufkin after we drop off the boys on Friday. My mom's family is having a reunion, so that should be fun. Everyone will get to meet Snuggles and we will have a great time! Please pray for Travis and the rest of the group's travels (and our travels), their health, and that the Welsh people will have receptive hearts to hear the Good News.
