Disappointment

Well, two things happened yesterday that caused some disappointment in my life:

1. I went online to register for my half-marathon that is in two weeks, and once I got on the website, it said, "RACE IS SOLD OUT" Sold Out?? What?? What is this nonsense? How can a race be sold out?? I was so upset!! I immediately looked for a contact number, and once I found it, I had to wait two more hours before I could call, because the racing office was located on the West Coast, which is two hours behind our time. After I finally reached someone, I explained my story of how I've been training hard-core since August and this is my first race and I've told everyone about it and I am excited, and on and on and on.... Well, she waited until I was finished and then said, "I'm sorry, ma'am, but there's nothing I can do, the race is full. The City of San Antonio will not allow any more competitors." So, there I was, rejected and upset. After I got off of the phone, I cried and then did what any little girl would do in this situation... I called my dad. My dad, knowing the grueling training program I have endured, was steaming mad and wanted their contact info. He typed up an email and sent it off, but I know it probably will not make a difference. I tried to look for another race close to that date, but all I could find were 5K races and Thanksgiving runs. Sadness, I don't know what to do now... :(

2. As you probably guessed, it has something to do with the election. I will try not to be negative and admit that I am scared about next four years of our country, so I will remind you of the positive things.... A.) Romans 11:1- Read it! And know that the the Lord promises in His Word that the government rests on HIS shoulders, not that of any man. Also, the election did show that the picture of democracy was successful and anyone can be president, despite his/her race or background.

I hope we can all relish in the positive points and not wallow in the negatives. We need to pray for our country and its leaders daily. We need to be thankful for all of the blessings that God has abounded our way. Does this mean that I can have a Diet Dr. Pepper now?? That's the silver lining in the cloud!! :)
