Well, this night of the year is always nostalgic for me... Tonight is the Miss America pageant. Besides me being the 2005 Miss Texas, (haha) I have great memories that surround this pageant. As far back as I can remember, my mom and I would sit down together on that Saturday night and watch the Miss America pageant together. We would always root for Miss Texas, especially if she was cute (honestly), and we would each have our favorites. I remember some years when I was younger that I would make my own scores for the top 10 and pick my own Miss America. We would rewind and critique, and I would put on my swimsuit and my mom's high heels and try to walk the "runway" in our living room, haha. When I moved to Austin for school, I found that my dear friendle, Katie, loved to watch the pageant too. Joy!! We spent at least 3 years watching the pageant together and we'd also have a date when awards shows were on. We loved to watch the pre-award coverage, where the actors and actresses showed up in their fancy attire. I will always think of Katie when I watch award shows or pageants, and wish that she was able to still watch them with me. But, it's not that easy when we live in separate cities now, separated by a 4-hour drive.
Last year, Dani came over to watch the Miss America pageant and we picked our favorites and cheered for them through the show. She is coming over tonight to watch it with me again and I am super excited. I know it may sound vain, since I don't really know the positive part of these pageants, and I know that people call them "scholarship" pageants, but I'm not stupid enough to believe that IF they win, it still won't even equal the amount of money they spend on training, evening gowns, beauty accessories, etc. I have had friends that have competed in pageants, and even the smaller, local pageants are expensive. Let's face it, it's a contest to see who is the most beautiful and talented. Whatever it is, I think it's still entertaining to watch and it has helped to create positive memories that I will always cherish!
Good Luck to Miss Texas!! :) If you'd like to join us tonight, give me a call! :)

MEAGO, my friendles!!!!!!!!!
I thought of you probably seven times yesterday knowing that the pageant would be on and I wouldn't get to watch it with you. And this, of course, is awards season, which also means constant reminders of my faraway friend and our good memories of pageant/ awards watching. AWWWWWWW!
I miss you! And love you!!!
I didn't get to watch the show last night because I was at a birthday party. Fun party, but MAN was I wishing I could spend a night with my old favorites... Mario Lopez, evening gowns, and Meagles the friendle.
