Getting Ready for D-Now Season!!

When we were in college (that sounds like it so SOO long ago, haha), Travis and I both participated in a D-Now team from the BSM at UT. When local churches needed guest leaders to serve at their D-Now (Disciple Now), they would call the BSM and we would go! It was a blast! We were leaders at D-Nows in Manchaca, Round Rock (twice) and the booming metropolis of Flatonia. We really enjoy interacting with the youth and love to help teach them about Jesus and his unconditional love for them. With so many things vying for their time and attention, our hearts yearn that they sell their whole hearts to Jesus and His plan for their lives. I guess our love for D-Nows goes back to our own days as kids in the youth ministry at Crestwood Baptist Church. Those six years shaped our lives so much (for the better) and really jump-started our walk with our Saviour and taught us a lot about being a true disciple, missionary, servant and light for God.

That said, we will be heading back to Lumberton this Thursday to be leaders in the Lumberton Community-wide D-Now this weekend. We have been asked to serve as leaders in the annual D-Now at CBC for several years now, so we always enjoy going back to the church/area where we have so many friends, family and memories. I love that this D-Now has gone community-wide and is even branching out into the north end of Beaumont this year! The community-wide D-Now event started last year as several churches in Lumberton participated in a D-Now on the same weekend with the same curriculum and theme. Regardless of denomination, these churches came together and served the community as a united body of Christ. AWESOME!! I'll be teaching the 11-12th grade girls and Travis will be teaching the 9th grade guys. Looking forward to a fun weekend. Please pray that these students' hearts will be softened and that they will be receptive to the message this weekend. Please also pray that Travis and I would be a vessel that the Lord would use to touch His children in a mighty way.

We are also excited to open our own home to host a D-Now for Bannockburn next month! This was the reason we wanted a home, so we could serve others and invite others into a place where the name of Jesus is proclaimed and God's love and grace is evident. Travis will be helping to be the co-host/home manager for the weekend while I lead a group of 7th grade girls in our home. It should be fun and full of lots of ENERGY! I need to try to go back to that time in my life when I was a 7th grade girl. You think I'm talkative and sometimes hyper now, but you have no idea what I was like when I was a little giddy 7th grade girl. I think I need to make some phone calls and apologize for my obnoxious behavior, haha!

Well, I will leave you with a few pics from our youth days at good ol' CBC aka "The Wood" or "C-Wood". I thought I had more pics on my computer, but I guess I need to scan more embarassing younger-looking photos....
