What's Up?

Well, I decided I've give a little update on the recent events in our lives lately:

- YAY for March Madness! This is one of my favorite times of the year, along with football season and Christmas. I LOVE watching college sports (esp. football and basketball) and filling out my bracket. I also love seeing upsets and cinderella stories...

- I have lost 10 lbs! It has taken a little longer then I wished, but I'm glad it's gone! Today I started a new healthy eating plan with the Lose It! application on my iphone. I put that I wanted to lose 24 more pounds and 2 lbs. a week, so it calculated my daily calorie allowance (after I input my age, height and weight). I am allowed 1271 calories a day net (I can eat more if I exercise), and if I maintain this goal, I should lose the weight by June 14th. :)

- Travis tested positive for the flu yesterday. He was feeling really achy and had a 102.3 fever! I took him to the doctor yesterday morning and sure enough, it was the flu! He is resting at home (except for running to the office for a few hours today and tomorrow), drinking lots of fluids and taking medicine. He should be fully recovered by Monday. Thank goodness I got my flu shot this year!

- I applied for the iteachtexas.com certification program, and I may have to wait a few weeks to find out if I was accepted. I will update once I find out. I am really excited about the possibilities with teaching, though. A lot of my friends have been great encouragers on this new step. Thanks!! :)

- We joined 24-hour Fitness last Friday and we got a really great deal! It will only cost us $50 for both of us to have an unlimited membership each month. We can go to any location and go to any classes for no extra cost. I've enjoyed getting back at a gym, and Travis and I have been working on our triathlon training until he got sick.

- Speaking of a triathlon, I've agreed to do two triathlons in a few months. The first one will be with Travis in New Braunfels at the Comal River on May 16. We will swim 1/4 mile, bike 12 miles and run 3.1 miles. The second is a few weeks later with Dani in Austin. The swim will be a little longer, 1/2 mile swim, 12 mile bike and 3.1 mile run. I like setting these fitness goals, and it's fun to get to workout different areas instead of only running.

- Spring Break is this week, and although I haven't had a true Spring Break since high school, it has been nice to have lighter traffic and great weather this week! The office has also been quieter because a lot of people took off to do stuff with their kids.

- I went to a free consultation for Lasik eye surgery on Tuesday and I found out that I'm an ideal candidate for the surgery. We got a great deal at the Mann Eye Institute, and after crunching numbers, we will be able to afford it! I am super excited! My surgery is set for April 2 at 1:00, and I'll be able to function normally and go to work the next day! My mom is coming to take me to the surgery and drive me home. I am so glad that she'll be here to take care of me. Yay for no more contacts and glasses!! :)

- Travis started working at the San Marcos store this week. He says it's been nice to drive to work in no traffic and get home at a reasonable hour. With this move, he is the official graphic designer at this location and he's loving it!

Well, I guess that's all the news in the Hogg House for now. Congrats to Brittany and Sam Swanson on the news of their expectant arrival in October!! :)

Wow meag! I am impressed by your 10lbs lost and all of your racing and triathlons! You may have to help me out in about 7 months when I am the size of a cow! Also, I'm anxious to hear about how Lasik goes... I want Sam to get a consult but we'd have to save for awhile..
