I Can See Clearly Now....

Again, I guess you have that song in your head now, huh? Well, I decided to give a little update since our last visit...

- I got LASIK eye surgery on Thursday morning. Everything went great! My eyes were a little blurry and felt like something was in them for a day, but I could already see better immediately after the procedure! It was amazing! I highly recommend that anyone interested in this procedure, visit the Mann Eye Institute in either Austin or Houston for a free consultation!

- My mom came to stay with us on Wednesday and left Saturday morning so she could take care of me after my LASIK. It was so wonderful to have her here. We had some great food, got some great deals at the outlet mall and spent some quality time together. Thanks Mom!!

- I finally gave in and decided to get my hair cut by someone here in Austin. Yes, it is pitiful that I still continue to get my hair cut by Christi at Cloud Nine in Lumberton, but I trust her and I really like her prices!! Jenni R. plugged me into Andy (a girl) at Vanity Salon in Austin and I went yesterday to get my hair cut. I loved it! She massaged my scalp and was a very sweet girl! We are the same age, and she got married about 6 months ago, so we had a lot in common! If you're looking for a new hairstylist, check her out! Very affordable (for Austin) too! I decided to get my hair layered again and got new bangs that I can wear in different ways. I can wear them all down, straight across, over to the side, parted both ways, or even pinned back. Yay for options!!

- On another hair-y note, my mom also gave me highlights while she was here. There's nothing like free highlights by your own personal stylist! She's been doing my highlights for years, and she does a WONDERFUL job!! :)

- We went to the outlet malls in San Marcos for some shopping and I got some GREAT deals! I bought two pairs of shoes at Brighton that are normally $300 each for a total of $60!! They were 90% off!! I also got some great deals at the Banana Republic store (my new favorite store, sorry Gap).

- Travis has our yard looking superb! I got some little yard decorations for Easter (nothing tacky and over-the-top, and my mom helped me put together a little pot of faux bluebonnets on the front porch. I got a flag pole and an American Flag and an Easter flag, and I'm pretty proud of our purchases! I'll have to post pics soon.

- D-Now in Lumberton was AWESOME! It was so amazing to be a part of God's movement in this town. It had been a long time since I felt God speaking to me about a specific situation, but He was very clearly telling these 11-12th grade girls something special and He used me to convey the message, it was amazing!! Thanks for your prayers! I will be hosting 7-8th grade girls at our house at the end of this month for a D-Now with our church. Please pray for me as I lead this event and pray for Travis as he has to put up with all those girls! That's a lot of estrogen in the house!!

- Speaking of estrogin in the house, along with my mom staying with us, we also had my cousin Jessica and two of her friends stay with us from Wednesday through Saturday. It was a full house, but I'm so grateful that God has allowed us to give these people a place to stay for free. It was great to see Jess and meet her sweet friends too! Snuggles and Timber greatly enjoyed the company and I think they are a little bored with just us now, haha!

- The Soccer State Tournament is this weekend, so I'll be busy at work organizing last-minute details for the event. I had to work yesterday to prepare for the tournament, but soccer has not been nearly as stressful or detailed as basketball. At least, not yet!

- I'm excited to get to work out again today. Since I had the procedure, I have not been allowed to sweat until today. I see a good 30+ minute bike ride in my near future (today).

- Micah is coming over this weekend to help Travis drop the wires for the surround sound. Now, we won't have wires all over our living room! Yay!!

- I'm actually planning on cooking a good Easter lunch this weekend with a ham and everything. Looking forward to spending Easter with Travis and the pups, but sad that we won't be able to make it home to spend time with family. :(

- I'm applying for some teaching and coaching jobs in the area, so be praying for that. I'm starting my certification program, and I'm praying that I'll be able to breeze through it so I can get my license soon! I am also going to take the Math exit test (along with PE) so that I can teach Math. I like Math, and I was fairly good at my math classes in high school, and if I teach Math, I can get some of my loans forgiven!! :)

Sorry about the lengthy post. Lots going on at the Hogg House. We love you and if we haven't seen you in a while, we miss you!! Come visit us soon!!

This is a pic of me at work this morning with my new hair 'do and my new eyes (even though they don't look any different!). I'm also wearing on of my new shirts from Banana Republic. Sorry my eyes look so pitiful, I'm not allowed to wear eye makeup until Thursday! :)
