On Thursday, the sickness was intensified and I could no longer say that I had not vomited yet in this pregnancy. The flood gates were opened, and I couldn't keep anything down! It was horrible! I tried to go to work on Friday, but I could not make it until 1:00, so I went to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription for a nausea medicine from my doctor and went home to lay in bed and suffer there. At least I didn't feel weird for running suddenly to the bathroom at home, haha. Well, Zofran is a miracle drug! I immediately starting feeling better and I was even able to eat something that afternoon. Thank you God! I had little time to rest because we were leaving to go to the lake for the weekend and I didn't feel like packing the night before, so I had to do it that afternoon. So, after getting everybody packed and the puppies in the car, we headed to San Marcos to pick up Travis and start the 6 hour trek to Toledo Bend. We finally arrived at his grandparents' lake house a little after 11:00, so we were exhausted. Unfortunately, since the puppies slept the whole way to the lake, they were NOT tired and proceeded to stay up all night, which caused us to get LITTLE sleep. Not our happiest night!
I kept taking my meds when I would feel woozy, and it definitely made it a better weekend! I was even able to go out on the boat to see Travis and Kaitlin tube in the lake. We had a great time with his family, had some wonderful meals :) and finally got to nap and sleep the next night! :)
On Saturday, we went to a wedding for one of Travis' longtime friends, Dustin Cleveland. He ran cross country for my dad, so my parents were able to make it to the wedding as well. It was great to see them too, since I had not seen them since we broke the big news to them. The wedding and reception were all at the lake, so it was very nice. Our parents gave us a bin full of clothes and stuff for the baby. This baby is so spoiled already, and I can tell you that he/she has many outfits that will be gender-neutral! The baby even got it's first UT apparel, some pacifiers and the cutest wind suit! :) I'm excited to finally start cleaning out the "game room" and convert it into a nursery. I think I've picked out bedding for each gender that I really like and we are still working on a name for a boy. I'll let you know more about that later. We probably won't announce it until we know what the gender will be. Which is in about 10 weeks! :)
We finally made it home last night around 8:00 and I was able to wash and dry the laundry and get things ready for the week ahead. I'm so thankful for a night off tonight! :)
How your baby's growing at 8+ weeks:
New this week: Webbed fingers and toes are poking out from your baby's hands and feet, his eyelids practically cover his eyes, breathing tubes extend from his throat to the branches of his developing lungs, and his "tail" is just about gone. In his brain, nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways. You may be daydreaming about your baby as one sex or the other, but the external genitals still haven't developed enough to reveal whether you're having a boy or a girl. Either way, your baby -- about the size of a kidney bean — is constantly moving and shifting, though you still can't feel it.
