9 weeks and a doctor's visit!

Today we went to our 10-week checkup, even though we aren't quite 10 weeks along yet. Everything was great! The little one has a great heartbeat and is growing and forming nicely inside of me. Though I've yet to start showing, really, the little one is growing with leaps and bounds and is now the size of a grape, or one inch in length from head to rump. We even got to see little hands and feet in one of our pictures. I'll post those later, once I can get home to scan them in to the computer. The due date may change a day, so it's possible that our baby will be due on Easter Sunday, April 4! That's a great little gift from the Easter Bunny! I had my blood work done today and an exam as well. We scheduled our 14-week visit for Sept. 30 and then four weeks after that we will have another visit to determine the baby's gender. :)

For now, we're getting excited about football season starting this weekend, Hook Em Horns! My parents are coming in for all of the home games, so we are going to visit garage sales this Saturday for baby stuff. I'm excited about the extra long weekend and having a free day on Monday! The nausea may be a little better, but because I've haven't really had an appetite lately, I've lost almost 9 pounds since finding out that I was pregnant! It has not been the best diet, though, believe me!!

Keep praying for the healthy growth of our little blessing and that the nausea would subside for me soon! :) Have a great week and enjoy the extra long weekend!

The Baby at 9 weeks:

Your new resident is nearly an inch long —about the size of a grape— and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. She's starting to look more and more human. Her essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: Your baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do her tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. Your baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. Her eyes are fully formed, but her eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. She has tiny earlobes, and her mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta is developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones. Now that your baby's basic physiology is in place, she's poised for rapid weight gain.
