Travis and me at his Alphagraphics Christmas Party
We had an interesting weekend. It was full of Christmas parties and putting up the outdoor lights, but other than those things, I did not feel that great all weekend. I felt nauseous all day Saturday and I felt like I was in week 10 of my pregnancy all over again! Then, I started having weird pains in my lower abdomen. I knew they weren't contractions, because it never released and it wasn't too painful, but the steady pain kept me worried. I did not sleep well either, and my sides started going numb from sleeping on my side too much. There were some other things, but I will spare you the details :). I decided to wait until Monday, and if things weren't better, I would call my doctor. Well, I didn't feel that great on Monday morning either, so I called and made an appt. yesterday. Since we still only have one car and Travis couldn't miss any more time at work, Dani graciously agreed to take me to the doctor, thanks SOOO much Dani!! At the doctor's office, everything was fine, but they did say that I had a bladder infection and the weird feelings I had was actually bladder spasms. I didn't know that you could have such a condition. It was good that I went to the doctor, because my infection could spread to my kidneys and that wouldn't be good for Hudson or me. I got some medicine and they checked everything else and we are doing great, baby wise!
I was so relieved that I wasn't in pre-term labor or that Hudson was not in distress of any kind. In fact, it seems that he has been quite the little mover and shaker this weekend. His heartbeat was great (157bpm) and he apparently loves to nuzzle up on the right side of my tummy. I can actually see him moving now, which is pretty cool!
I'm gearing up for office Christmas parties and getting ready to head to Southeast Texas next Wednesday to see family! What a wonderful time of year! :)

What's Going On with Hudson This Week?
Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.
Lord,
Thank you so much for protecting me and Hudson. Thank you for good doctors that love you and love their patients. Thank you for medicine that helps treat minor problems from becoming big problems. I am amazed at how you have gifted doctors and chemists to develop the best medicines for mommies-to-be. I pray that you continue to nurture Hudson as he grows. I'm excited that he is developing taste buds now, and I pray that he will taste and see that YOU are good! I also can't wait to fix him his favorite meals! I pray that as his brain develops, you would knit together all of the synapses and neurons to flow quickly and that his brain would be able to store all of the memories he will cherish, all of the wisdom and promises from YOU and how much his daddy, mommy and family love him. Thank you for this blessing!
