36 weeks! 26 days till due date!

Well, I am less than one week away until I am considered "full-term." This means that if I go into labor, Hudson will have a wonderful chance at surviving without any oxygen or special care, Praise The Lord! :) I just finished Round #2 of my crazy marathon work schedule and my final round starts today (well yesterday, actually) with the Boys' State Basketball Tournament. Then, for kicks, I tacked on more overtime and signed up to do registration at the State CX Debate Tournament next Sunday evening. I know, I'm crazy, but I figure it will all be worth it with the overtime money that we will need when I'm out on maternity leave (hopefully soon). Besides, I already decided that I'm taking a day off next Monday when it's all over to recover, go to the doctor for our last ultrasound and get a pedicure that my parents bought for my birthday! :) My mom says that I need pretty feet and toes while I'm in the hospital and I won't argue with that, haha. :)

How am I feeling? Well, rather large, uncomfortable, tired and today I'm feeling a little under the weather. I have some drainage and sinus crud and I'm hoping to nip it in the bud before it gets worse and affects my work schedule. That would not be fun. Please pray that I feel better soon! :) I know I'm getting pretty big in front, but I am still shocked every time I see myself in a mirror at how much my stomach protrudes now, haha. That's okay though. As long as my hips aren't protruding much I'm fine.

Timber seems to be sick, so we are taking him to the vet this afternoon. He has been acting funny since yesterday evening and I think he got sick in the middle of the night too. Poor Timber, he never acts this way. At least we still have him under the puppy plan at Petsmart so we get free vet visits and the medicine is reduced in price.

I was a little upset at myself that I was not able to make it through the entire tournament. Two nights, my boss sent me home early because she was worried that I was overdoing it. I probably was, to be honest, but I really want to do a good job since I've worked so hard to prepare for these events. I am very flattered that everyone at the UIL is worried about my condition and constantly asks if I'm okay or if I need anything. They give up their chairs for me to sit down and volunteer to do the dirty work, which I know helps out tremendously! :) So far, I have not had any swelling in my feet (miraculously) even after working 16-hour days at the basketball tournaments.

As far as my pregnant state, I still think I'm not going to make it to April. This may be TMI, but I am convinced that Hudson has moved down and I think I've dialated some. I know it's hard for me to tell, but you'll just have to trust me, haha. I could be wrong, b/c we all know I'm far from being a doctor and I've never experienced pregnancy before. Don't get your hopes up, but I still have a feeling it will all go down in March. When I say "it", I mean labor. I'm selfishly hoping for some time next week, but we can dream, right? :) I did have a dream last night that my water broke, and it was so real that I woke up thinking it was actually true. Alas, it was not true. But, I know with God's help, my family and friends, I can make it at least 26 more days! By all means, though, Hudson, you can certainly come earlier if you would like! :)

Hudson has continued to be very active and he's such a good baby already. I can't wait to meet this sweet boy! Until next week, here's what Hudson's up to now:

Your baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. He now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. He's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered his body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected his skin during his nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of his first bowel movement.

At the end of this week, your baby will be considered full-term. (Full-term is 37 to 42 weeks; babies born before 37 weeks are pre-term and those born after 42 are post-term.) Most likely he's in a head-down position. But if he isn't, your practitioner may suggest scheduling an "
external cephalic version," which is a fancy way of saying he'll try to coax your baby into a head-down position by manipulating him from the outside of your belly. FYI- Hudson is already head-down, according to the last dr. visit we had, so he's in good shape there! :)

I wouldn't mind Hudson coming next week either...that's my Spring Break so I could practically come to the hospital anytime...because I know I'm such an important part of this pregnancy and all...lol Just kidding. I can't wait to see you tonight...at least hold out til then.
