Dr. Appt.- 3/15/10

Well, we went to our weekly dr. appt. yesterday. It was very interesting b/c:
a.) Dr. Pevoto has moved offices, and he is now inside the hospital, in a clinic with other obstetricians. The new office is very nice, but yesterday was the first day for Dr. P to be in the new office, so things were a little slow. I think it will get better with time and they said that they will be getting a 4-D ultrasound machine soon! That's good news for our next go-round, haha.

b.) I started having inconsistent contractions on Saturday, so I was curious if I had progressed. I prayed that there was progression and there was! :) I was 80% effaced, which means that my cervix needs to thin out 20% more and I'll probably go into active labor. This could happen overnight or it could take two weeks. Nothing's for sure, but I have had more contractions last night and today so that's promising, I think. They are still not consistent, but now I'm getting a lot of pain in my lower back along with the crampiness in the front. I even woke up in the middle of the night with the aches, but again, they were not consistent.

c.) I haven't dilated much, and if I have dilated at all, it's less than 1 cm. Dr. P didn't seem concerned with this, though. He said that the thinning of the cervix is the most important thing to bring on labor. He was surprised that my cervix is already effaced that much this soon, especially since this is my first baby. I'm taking that as good news!

d.) We had our final ultrasound and it was great! Hudson's measurements were even a little ahead this time and the fluid surrounding him looked good. Last ultrasound (3 weeks ago), he was a little on the small side, but now he's really plumped up and he is approximately 6 pounds, 15 ounces! :) That's my boy- what a good eater! :) Everything looked great and he was active and in birthing position, head down.

I'm hoping something happens soon. I know I need to cherish every moment I have now to rest and relax, but I am so excited to meet Hudson and get to know him. Travis and I can hardly wait, but we're taking it day-by-day. We'll be updating the blog, twitter and facebook of any changes or if I go to the hospital. Say a prayer that everything continues to go smoothly. I've been so blessed so far- thank you Lord! :)
