Colorado Trip

We took our first big family trip to Colorado for Stephanie's wedding. She got married in Colorado Springs at the Garden of the Gods, which was awesome! It was very simple- no decor, no chairs, no programs, etc. but it was so classic and the scenery was beautiful! We had an eventful trip that started out EARLY Friday with a 6:15 flight to Denver. Turns out, the airport is the busiest in the early mornings and when some security checkpoints are not working, it is a mess at the airport on a Friday of a holiday weekend. We learned the hard way and just missed our flight with SECONDS to spare. We got to the gate 2 minutes before our flight was leaving, but they would not let us on the plane because they had already "locked the doors" and couldn't open them. We had to wait on stand-by for 6HOURS at the airport, but Hudson was soooo good! He is so awesome and we are so blessed!! Here he is on his first plane ride:

He slept most of the way there and back. No crying, just looking around at everyone else!

We finally go to Denver that afternoon and had to RUSH to Colorado Springs just to make the rehearsal dinner. I was in the wedding as a reader, so they invited me and Travis to the dinner, which was lovely and so much fun catching up with Stephanie. I miss her so much!!

Saturday, I got up and ran my 4 miles on my half-marathon plan and then we headed up to Pikes Peak. It was a beautiful day and Hudson was great, once again. Travis posted many pictures from the trip on Facebook, but I'll share these:

After Pikes Peak, we rushed back to the hotel to catch a little of Texas' first game while we got ready for the wedding. I headed to Steph's hotel to ride in the limo with her and the rest of the wedding party. I was so honored to be a part of her and Dan's special day, it was beautiful and they are such a great couple and we wished we lived closer so we could hang out more! I guess it just gives us an excuse to visit Colorado more often! :)

Here are a few pics from the lovely ceremony and reception:

On Sunday, though we were tired, we woke up early again and headed an hour away to go whitewater rafting. It was sooo much fun and I really recommend this to anyone thinking about giong. Travis wished we could go again that day, but we had to head into Denver, where we stayed the last night before flying back to Austin the next morning. Thankfully, we made our flight and had time to spare! :) We LOVED our visit, had a great time with Steph's family and other Lumberton friends and had a happy reunion at a great union of two great people.
