So, today I get a free lunch at the UT Club. Our office is attending the Retirement Celebration for our Executive Director, Dr. Farney. I'm excited for multiple reasons: 1. FREE meal! 2. at the UT Club, which is always good. 3. Craig Way is hosting the gala 4. We will be roasting Dr. Farney (no, not literally!) 5.Lots of laughs will be had, I'm sure. Dr. Farney has been the UIL Exec. Director since 1994, so 15 years of Directing and I think at least 10 years of being the Athletic Director before that. I'm pretty sure that he just got his 35-year service award, so I guess he's been around a while. Last week, Dr. Breithaupt, our Athletic Director, was named the new Executive Director. With this transition comes lots of change, but it's a change that I'm excited about. I think some great things will come from this transition, and the next few months should be pretty interesting. I'll keep you informed of any changes that may affect me.
Tomorrow, I get another free lunch at the office, a catered farewell celebration for one of our athletic coordinators, Rachel. She'll be moving to Indianapolis for new beginnings and adventures, and she'll be close to her family, which I know is always nice! I'm sad to see her go because she's definitely been a mentor for me while I've been at the UIL. It's a little difficult to be an administrator in a field dominated by men, but she's proven that it's very possible, which inspires me!
Aside from work happenings, which will probably bore you while reading this, I wanted to give my weekly WW update. Let me first say that I was excited about going to my weigh-in yesterday, because I knew that I made smart choices this past week and I wrote down all of my food stuff and tried to drink more water. I was upset to learn that I only lost half a pound. :( But, my dad helped me feel better by telling me that I could be retaining water and I need to cut down on my sodium intake, especially on weigh-in days. I will definitely keep that tip in mind for my next weigh-in. I'm hoping that a not-so-huge number will pave the way for a good weight loss next week! I'll keep you updated! Now I'm reminded that this weight loss journey will not be a short sprint, but a marathon. I need to get on my running shoes! :)
