Lookin' Divine in 2009!

Well, I have learned in the last year that my already-slow metabolism is even slower than when I was 20. I don't gorge myself on high-calorie foods and just sit on the couch, but I have gained weight. It's very depressing because I was doing the most running I've ever done in my life in the fall, while training for my half-marathon, and I still gained weight! I have always struggled with this issue, and it's so bad that every time I see a picture of myself, I always check to see if I look fat or not. I've maintained about the same weight/size for a few years now, but recently, I've noticed that my clothes are not fitting as well as I'd like and I don't look very fit.

So, with the new year, I knew I needed to lose a few pounds, so I figured that now is the best time to start! I have been in the Weight Watchers program before, with my mom and in college when I worked at Temple-Inland, we had meetings at worked. It has always been a system that works for me because I still feel like I don't have to starve myself or completely stay away from the good home cookin' that I love! So, I re-joined yesterday and found some friends in my meeting that I know from church. It will be nice to keep one another accountable and fellowship at these meetings. My goal is to lose 30 pounds, and I know that seems like a lot, but it will definitely put me in the weight range that I desire and will also put me a little under my pre-wedding weight.

So, every Tuesday, I'll try to give a report on my weight loss. I guess Dani and I can have a race on who can lose the most weight first, right? :) The first few days are the hardest, as my stomach is starting to shrink and get used to a different amount of food. Travis and I are starting to exercise together, which will be good for us both. I feel like I definitely have more time to devote to this, especially since I don't have any more classes to attend in the evenings, hooray! I recently got a treadmill from Craig's list, and I am running 20-30 minutes 5 mornings a week, and then Travis and I will do our fitness program in the evenings with a total-body workout. I'll let you know how it goes. Please pray for me that I will stay disciplined and that I will learn to taste of the Bread of Life when I am hungry, instead of the bread of rolls and biscuits! :)

Weight Watchers is WONDERFUL! You will do so well with it! And having a treadmill is such a great way to get in shape- no excuses. ;)
My hubby and I need to get better about our eating habits. We have each gained since our wedding. I am thinking of joining Weight Watchers online (since we'll be on the road this year) to keep us accountable. It's such a healthy way to lose weight.

Good luck! I know you'll do great!

I've lost 2 lbs since I started a week ago. So as of right now I'm ahead. This is gonna be good since we are both kinda competitive. =) I hope we can both reach our goals.
