I wanna be an educator....

Well, it's official. I am now enrolled in a program to get my Teaching Certification. This is something that I have been praying/stressing/thinking/crying about for about a month now. God has been revealing some things to me lately about my career, and I think this is an opportunity that I want to pursue. I'm not sure if I will be coaching or not, but I want to start teaching this fall! I'd love to teach in either Dripping Springs, Hays or Lake Travis ISD, but we shall see where there are openings and where God leads. If nothing works out, then I will still be at the UIL, and I am so blessed that I still have a job in this economic climate!

Since I have bachelor degrees in Kinesiology and Communication Studies (and a Master's in Kinesiology), I will probably be certified in Speech, PE and Health. Though these are subjects that are not often open or have available jobs, that is the qualifications I have, so that is what I will do. We are leaning on God to provide a job, if that is His will.

Honestly, I would love to be a cheerleading coach or a middle school basketball coach. I will be the fourth generation Killam teacher in my family, so that will be pretty cool. By the way, all of those teachers were also coaches, so I guess it's kinda in my blood too.

The decision to get my teaching certification was a hard choice to make. I love my job at the UIL, but I know that God has more in store for me, where I can use the gifts and passions He has given me to impact others in a positive way. A teacher's pay is better (honestly), and a teacher's schedule and annual calendar is one that you can't mind, especially in the coming years when we will be having kids. :)

Please join us in praying for this bold step, and I will certainly update you on any news in this area! I would really appreciate your prayers and support.

LOVE TO Y'ALL!!

How exciting! We will definitely will be praying for you in the coming months. I know you will be an amazing teacher/coach! (Maybe you can stick around long enough for Connor to have you.) :)
